On Monday their isn't much to reflect about as we talked about things we can do electronically i.e. Evernote, Blogspot and Moodle, all things we will be using through out the trimester. On Tuesday we set up blogs on Blogspot and we had to submit a Google form to you but many of us students didn't do so until around Thursday. Also the website was only allowing around 6 or 7 people then it wouldn't let anymore on. Wednesday is when we started the fun stuff. My group started at station #4 and took the mass of two vials (one from each side) and then made this precipitate (in the bottom picture) this caused no change in mass from the origianal two vials for our group.
Our next experiment was dissolving sugar in water and surprisingly our groups mass went up after dissolving the sugar, a change in mass that I attribute to error but it is possible that it maybe gained mass. the next station was a similar experiment but with Alka-Setzler tablets dissolving
in water and it only lost little amount of mass which I think left in the form of gas.We then did the steel wool experiment where we massed the steel wool and then pulled it apart and massed it again and our results showed that it lost a little mass that was most likely to be because the wool lost little flakes of steel. And then we did the fun part we got to burn the steel wool and surprisingly it gained nearly six grams of mass which I have no explanation for. Our final experiment was that we massed some ice in a vial and then we massed it when it had melted and some how it gained nearly seven grams of mass.
Then on Thursday we drew diagrams of the pulled apart steel wool before and after diagrams and put all the class data on a histogram
and we explained why we got the data that we got with our boards and also what was happening with the particles in the steel wool
On Friday we got out the chrome books and worked on our first blogs a little bit and then Mr. Pasque gave us a tour of Blogger and Evernote. In the week before all of this we did two things. The first was the pom pom pole. My group came up with the consensus that there were two ropes that were looped to each other and connected the pom poms vertical of each other (sorry about no picture I couldn't find the photos on evernote). The next thing we did was you natural gas in to an upside down paint can with a hole on the top you lit the gas leaking out as it is lighter than it burned all the way down it exploded sky ward. I think this was caused by a vacuum because ait couldn't get in and then all the air rushed in and forcing the bottom out ( again sorry about the lack of a picture).
